I'm amazed that you know about Enchanter disaster! I've almost forgotten myself, or at least I was hoping so... Well, if you are interested, I can give you the information. Here are 2 documents: the first is my official report, the second is a bit more personal point of view...

SUBJECT: TRAINING MISSION REPORT
-------------------------
On September 9, 2242, I was flying the training mission with flight instructor Mark Steeley, as required by the Earthforce Academy Training Program. At 0925, when our group was en route to the Cooke system, we received a distress call from the EA freighter Enchanter. Following Earthforce regulations, the instructor decided to abandon the training program and participate in the search and rescue operation.

After we returned to the Io beacon, I started to move as ordered toward the Proxima beacon in cruise mode, maintaining a speed of about 1 km/s. Within approximately 1000 km from Proxima I decided to cut my velocity to about 700 m/s and make a slight deviation from the center of the tachyon beam, hoping to pick up the Enchanter's signal.

Moving slowly towards Proxima, I finally managed to get some comm artifacts from the Enchanter, that gave me some hint of the right direction. Finaly, I obtained visual and comm contact with the Enchanter. Unfortunately, when I approached the freighter, its reactor reached critical mass and exploded.

The EAS Athena, which also coordinated the search, should have a full sensor recording of the Enchanter's last minutes.

After the loss of the Enchater, our group proceeded with the training mission which was successfully completed.

SUBJECT: RE: HOW DID YOU FIND IT?
-------------------------
Good evening, Commander. It was a tough day, so I'll keep it short.

Yes, I used my abilities in that search. I was not only trying to locate the signal, but also to p'hear the thoughts of the crew. Hyperspace is a strange place... It could be startling to suddenly hear voices in your head as clearly as if they were just in front of you... The thoughts of the dead... I can't explain what I felt then... Gloomy, despearte whispers all around... But they brought me right on target, otherwise it would be a hopeless search.

I'd better stop now or I'll be having nightmares for
months to come. Bye, until the next week.

Nikolai
